What we collect

AudiTex does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. Specifically:

• No browsing history
• No personal identifiable information
• No usage analytics or telemetry
• No account or sign-in required

How page content is used

When you activate AudiTex on a webpage, the extension reads the visible text on that page to convert it to speech. This text is:

• Processed entirely on your device
• Never sent to any external server
• Never stored beyond your current session (except audio cached locally in your browser for faster repeat playback)

Local storage

AudiTex stores the following data locally in your browser only:

• Preferences — your chosen voice and playback speed
• Audio cache — generated audio saved in IndexedDB so articles don't need to be re-processed on repeat visits
• AI model — the Kokoro TTS model (~310 MB) downloaded once from Hugging Face and stored in your browser's private file system (OPFS)

All of this data lives entirely on your device and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension.

Third-party services

On first use, AudiTex downloads the AI model from Hugging Face. This is a one-way download of a static file — no personal data is included in the request. After the initial download, the extension operates fully offline.

Data sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties — because we don't collect any data to begin with.

Children's privacy

AudiTex does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the change. Continued use of the extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
